What is the Jamaica Mission Trip All About?

Join us for a week of ministry, community outreach, and cultural exchange in Jamaica! This mission trip is designed for everyone—from seasoned evangelists to those looking to learn more about ministry. Every team member will have the opportunity to get involved in various aspects of service.

Schedule

  • Daily Morning Bible Studies – 6:30 – 7:30 AM for both the team and local Jamaicans.
  • School Ministry – 8:15 – 9:00 AM
    • Visit 8-10 different schools throughout the week (2 each morning).
    • Schools range in size from 40 to 700 children.
  • Women’s Daily Ministry – Monday to Thursday, 10:15 AM to 12:00 PM.
  • Hospital Ministry
    • Gospel services in three different wards.
    • Bed-to-bed ministry, witnessing, and praying with patients.
  • Door-to-Door Evangelism in local and outlying villages.
  • Vacation Bible School – 3:30 – 5:00 PM at one of the outlying churches.
  • Street Evangelism – Daily (morning and late afternoon).
    • Using a PA system, testimonies, singing, and preaching.
    • Usually done once or twice a day.
  • Evening Evangelistic Services at two different churches every evening.
    • Includes special music, group singing, testimonies, gospel preaching, and PM studies for local church elders.
  • Friday Night Gospel Service
    • At the church next to the Globe (our lodging location).
    • Open air with PA systems, reaching large audiences.
    • Entire team participation.

Down Times

  • Afternoons are mostly free: Enjoy the beach (a 5-minute walk), shopping, visiting, or relaxing.
  • Evening Fellowship: Gather at the GLOBE building around 9:00 PM for snacks and community time.
  • Friday Tour: Explore local sights, including swimming, dining, and shopping at a large flea market.

More Info about the Trip

  • Transportation: Bus ride from Kingston to lodging is about 2 hours (on the church bus).
  • Food: Expect Caribbean dishes such as wild goat, chickens, salads, plantains, mango, papaya, jerk chicken, meat and chicken pies, rice, and beans. Filtered and bottled water and sodas are provided.
  • Weather: Daytime temperatures around 85-88°F; nights around 70°F.
  • Accommodations:
    • No AC except on the bus; overhead fans are in all rooms.
    • Sleeping quarters are new, large, clean, and well-constructed.
  • Additional Considerations:
    • Mosquitoes are not a major concern (bug spray is optional).
    • Loud music may play at night, so consider ear plugs.
  • Team Expectations:
    • Attendance at all assigned meetings and services (except for health reasons) is expected.
    • Dress Code: Females should wear skirts and modest tops; males should wear collared shirts and long pants (ties required for preachers on Sunday).
    • A willingness to learn and participate is key—even if you’re new to evangelism.
    • Everyone will have the chance to be involved (preaching, teaching, singing, testimonies, etc.).

Cost Details (Excluding Airfare)

  • Room, Board, and Ground Transportation: Approximately $350 per person (for teams of 15 or more). Payment in US dollars is due to the pastor upon arrival.
  • Luggage Fees: Check with your airline.
  • Personal Spending:
    • You can manage the week with about $50, though $100–$200 is recommended.
    • Expenses may include church offerings, supermarket purchases, town shopping, the flea market on Friday, and nightly jerk runs.
  • Gratuities:
    • Approximately $10 for the bus driver.
    • $10–$20 for the cooks.
  • Currency Exchange: Some American money will be exchanged upon arrival.

Travel Information

  • Passport: Ensure your passport is valid through at least June 2026.
  • Luggage Requirements:
    • Typically, a checked bag fee is around $40 with a 50 lb weight limit.
    • Certain restrictions apply to carry-on liquids (usually no container over 4 oz).
  • Accommodations: The Mission Home (the GLOBE) is secure, with rooms set up for 2 people including a bathroom, closet, and overhead fan. Bedding, pillows, and towels are provided.
